Safeguarding Statement
Trustee and Leadership commitment
Leicester Vineyard is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment in which everyone can thrive – physically, emotionally and spiritually.
The Trustees and Leadership at Leicester Vineyard Church are dedicated to ensuring all our services, ministries and activities are safe spaces for all.
Specifically:
We prioritise safeguarding, recognizing that we all have a responsibility to help prevent the physical, sexual, emotional, spiritual, online abuse, and the neglect of children and young people, and to report any such abuse that we discover or suspect.
We recognise the personal dignity and rights of both children and adults with care and support needs and will ensure our policies and procedures reflect this.
We believe all children and adults with care and support needs should enjoy appropriate access to the life and ministries of Leicester Vineyard where safe to do so.
We undertake to exercise proper care in the selection and appointment of those who will work with children, young people and adults with care and support needs.
We believe everyone should be valued and feel safe. We want to make sure that everyone involved in the life of Leicester Vineyard knows this and feels empowered to tell us if they are suffering any form of harm.
We are committed to:
Following statutory guidelines in relation to safeguarding children and adults with care and support needs and will ensure our Safeguarding Policy is reviewed and updated annually.
Ensuring that all workers (paid and voluntary) work within the agreed procedures outlined in our Safeguarding Policy and will review/sign annually to adhere.
Ensuring we are keeping up to date with national and local legislation and working alongside our partners in the movement for best practice implementation, ever learning and improving practice and procedures.
Ensuring our staff and volunteers are appropriately trained and equipped and designated safeguarding roles are appropriately resourced and supported.
Fostering a culture of safeguarding, wellbeing and healthy leadership accountability within Leicester Vineyard.
Supporting anyone in the life of Leicester Vineyard affected by harm or abuse.
We recognise:
Children’s Social Services has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about a child.
Adults’ Social Care has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about an adult with care and support needs.
Where an allegation suggests a criminal offence may have been committed, the police are contacted as a matter of urgency.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
We will review this statement, the policy, and our procedures annually.
